윤석열 대통령이 1일 연간 2000명 규모 의대 증원·의료 개혁 등 관련해 1일 대국민 담화를 통한 입장을 밝힌다고 대통령실이 전했다.
대통령실은 31일 밤 언론 공지에서 "의료 개혁·의사 증원 추진 경과에 대해 국민 여러분께서 여전히 궁금해하신다는 의견이 많다"며 "윤 대통령이 내일(4월1일) '국민께 드리는 말씀'을 통해 직접 소상히 설명드릴 예정"이라고 전했다.
정부는 이미 연간 2000명 규모 의대 증원을 확정해 각 의대에 배정을 완료한 가운데 현재 의료계와 팽팽한 대치를 이어가고 있다.
전공의에 이어 일부 의대 교수들 역시 집단 사직서를 제출하면서 의료 공백에 대한 우려가 커지고 있는 가운데 개원의들 역시 '주40시간 진료'에 나서겠다고 예고한 상황이다.
윤 대통령은 담화를 통해 직접 국민들에게 의료개혁 필요성을 설명하면서 거듭 의료계에 대화를 촉구할 것으로 보인다.
