윤석열 대통령이 2일 "민생토론회 방식은 재작년 정부 출범 후 가을 무렵 과거 박정희 전 대통령이 약 180여 회 직접 주재한 '수출진흥전략회의'를 벤치마킹해 시작한 것으로 더 발전시켜야 하지 않겠느냐"고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오후 정부세종청사에서 열린 민생토론회 후속 조치 점검 회의에 참석해 "수요자인 국민 중심에서 정책을 발굴하고 해결책을 모색하는 민생토론회를 계속 진행하면서 발전시켜 나가도록 다 같이 노력해 주길 부탁한다"며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "연두 업무보고 방식을 바꾼다는 개념서 시작했는데 하다 보니 국민들도 많이 호응해주고 공직자들도 사고·업무 방식이 바뀜에 따라 정부 체질 개선을 하는 데도 많은 도움이 되겠다"고 말했다.
또 "민생토론회는 전국을 다니면서 이동하는 정책 토론회가 됐다"며 "아무래도 현장성을 더 가질 수밖에 없기 때문에 많이 도움된 것 같다"고 말했다.
이어 "지난 1월부터 총 24번 민생토론회를 연 결과 정부가 후속 조치를 결정한 과제가 총 240개"라며 "민생토론회를 한 번 할 때마다 평균 10개 실천 과제를 찾아내고 신속 해결해 나가고 있다"고 말했다.
더불어 의료개혁도 지난 2월 1일 여덟 번째 민생토론회에서 논의된 과제라는 점을 상기시킨 후 "그때 민생토론회에서 의료개혁 4대 패키지를 내놓았고 2월 6일 '의대 정원 2000명 증원' 계획을 발표했다"며 "일부 의사들 집단행동으로 어려움을 겪는 상황이지만 국민을 위한 의료개혁을 반드시 이뤄 낼 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
이날 회의는 그간 민생토론회를 통해 정부가 결정·추진해온 과제 중 사회 분야 정책 점검차 열린 가운데 향후 경제 분야 후속 조치를 점검할 계획이다.
윤 대통령은 지난 1월 4일 국민과 함께하는 민생토론회를 처음 시작 후 지난달 26일까지 3개월간 전국 현장을 찾아 총 24회 민생토론회를 개최했다.
