[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군 신원면에 거주하는 구선모, 신말순씨 부부가 8일 20여 년간 가지치기, 관수작업 등 많은 정성을 들여 손수 가꿔온 향나무 2주를 거창창포원에 기증했다.

부부가 기증한 향나무는 수형이 우수하고 금액으로 환산하기 어려울 만큼 조경적 가치가 높은 수목으로 거창군 기부심사위원회의 심의를 거친 후 기증자의 의견을 반영해 거창창포원 중앙광장 화단 내에 식재했다.

구선모씨는 거창군 신원면 구사리 출신으로 육군본부 군무원 부이사관으로 퇴직하고 신원면 게이트볼 연합회 이사와 거창군 게이트볼 연합회장을 역임했으며 신원면 면지편찬 선임위원장으로 활동하는 등 거창군 발전을 위해 노력해 왔다.
