윤석열 대통령이 16일 "이번 총선을 통해 나타난 민심을 모두 겸허하게 받아들여야 한다"며 "더 낮은 자세·유연한 태도로 보다 많이 소통하고 저부터 민심을 경청하겠다"고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 용산 대통령실에서 TV생중계된 제17회 국무회의 모두발언에서 "취임 이후 지난 2년 동안 국민만 바라보며 국익을 위한 길을 걸어왔지만 국민 기대에 미치지 못했다"며 이같이 말했다. 윤 대통령의 이날 발언은 지난 4·10 총선 후 첫 공식 메시지다.

또 "무분별한 현금 지원·포퓰리즘은 나라 미래를 망치는 것으로 경제적 포퓰리즘은 정치적 집단·전체주의와 상통하는 것이어서 미래에 비춰보면 마약같은 것"이라며 "그러나 현재 국민이 겪는 어려움을 더 세심하게 살피라는 게 정부 임무고 민심을 챙기는 것이라 생각한다"고 말했다.
