대통령실이 16일 향후 윤석열 대통령과 야당 대표 간 회담 가능성 여부에 "모두가 다 열려있다"고 밝혔다.
대통령실 고위 관계자는 이날 용산 대통령실에서 기자들과 만나 '이재명 대표가 요구하는 회담 수용 계획이 있느냐'는 질의에 "윤 대통령이 '국민을 위해서라면 못할 게 뭐가 있느냐'고 했는데 그 안에 답이 포함돼 있다"며 이같이 전했다.
그러면서 "국회는 5월 말 새롭게 열리고 이후 원구성이 된다"며 "그러면 어떤 시점이 국회와 소통하기 적절한지 생각해야 한다"고 말했다.
또 "야당과 소통할 때도 늘 여당이 함께 해야 하는 측면도 있다"며 "아직 여당 지도체제가 완전히 갖춰진 건 아닌 것 같아 여당을 위해서도 야당을 위해서도 최소한 물리적 시간은 필요하다는 점을 감안해야 한다"고 전했다.
이어 윤 대통령이 오전 제17회 국무회의 마무리 발언에서 4·10 총선 결과에 "국민 뜻을 잘 살피고 받들지 못해 죄송하다"고 밝혔다고 전했다. 앞서 윤 대통령은 모두 발언에서 전반적 총선 관련 입장을 밝혔으나 추가 심경을 드러낸 것이다.
더불어 윤 대통령이 국무회의 후 참모진과의 회의에서 "국민을 위해 뭐든 다 하겠다. 국민을 위해 못 할 게 뭐가 있냐"며 "(윤 대통령이) 저부터 잘못했고 저부터 소통을 더 많이 해나가겠다"며 소통을 강조했다고 전했다.
또 선거 결과 관련해선 "당 선거운동이 평가받은 것이나 한편으론 정부의 국정운영이 국민으로부터 평가받은 것으로 매서운 평가 본질은 소통을 더 하란 것"이라고 말했다고 전했다.
