시에 따르면 경남도농업기술원 예찰 결과 평년에 비해 한 달 가까이 빠른 지난 18일 단감 예찰포와 폐과수원에서 탄저병이 확인된 만큼 시는 농가에 배부한 약제를 적기에 방제할 수 있도록 지도에 만전을 기하고 있다.
시는 올해 단감 병해충 방제에 지난해 9,800만원에 비해 450%가량을 늘린 4억4,000만원을 투입해 880㏊ 전 과수원에 방제 약제를 살포할 수 있도록 지원했다.
아울러 기상이변과 생태계 변화로 빈번해지는 국내 유입 외래 병해충인 미국선녀벌레 등 돌발해충 방제 약제도 농가에 이미 배부했다.
탄저병은 5~6월 포자 비산에 의해 발병하며 고온다습한 기후 열병균에 감염돼 발생하는 병으로 주로 과실 성숙기에 열매에 발생한다.
탄저병에 걸린 단감은 표면에 흑갈색의 반점이 생기고 일부분은 검은색으로 부패, 상품성이 크게 떨어지고 생산량도 줄어든다.
