울진 성류굴, 국가유산청 출범기념 무료 개방

【브레이크뉴스 울진】이우근 기자=울진군(군수 손병복)은 오는 17일부터 문화재청이 ‘국가유산청’으로 새롭게 출범함에 따라, 국가유산인 성류굴을 15일부터 19일까지 5일간 무료 개방한다고 9일 밝혔다.

문화재청에 따르면 1962년 문화재보호법 제정 이래 60여 년 동안 재화적, 과거 유물이란 성격이 강했던 ‘문화재’란 명칭을 국제적 기준에 맞춰 과거와 현재, 미래를 아우르는 ‘유산’이라는 개념으로 확장하고, 국가유산을 체계적으로 보존하고 관리, 활용하고자 문화재 관련법 및 문화재청 명칭을 바꾸게 되었다고 전했다.

이에 울진군은 국가유산을 찾는 국민들에게 새롭게 시작하는 국가유산청을 알리는데 발맞춰 출범일 전후 무료 개방에 협조하기로 하였다.

천연기념물 제155호인 성류굴은 울진군의 대표적인 관광 명소로 1976년 군 직영 이후 2,000만 명이 방문하였고, 최근 코로나19 종식이후 다시 성류굴 방문객이 늘어나 작년 2023년에는 23만명이 다녀갔다.

성류굴 관람시간은 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지며, 매주 월요일 휴관이지만 하절기 7월 20일부터 8월 20일까지는 휴관일 없이 정상 운영한다. 자세한 사항은 문화관광과 성류굴 운영팀으로 문의하면 안내받을 수 있다.
