브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 한국마사회 사회공헌재단이 17일부터 31일까지 ‘2024년 국민드림마차 지원 사업’ 공모를 시행한다.
‘국민드림마차’ 사업은 교통약자의 이동권 증진을 위해 읍면 단위의 농어촌 및 한국마사회 사업장 소재 지역 복지기관 등에 차량을 지원하는 사업이다.
2004년부터 10여년간 ‘사랑의 황금마차’라는 이름으로 사업을 추진해 온 한국마사회는, 2018년 ‘국민드림마차’로 개편 후 도움의 손길이 절실한 기관에 혜택이 돌아갈 수 있도록 사업을 내실화 해왔다.
그 결과, 현재까지 누적 지원차량은 무려 1000대를 넘었고 이동에 여러 제약을 겪던 소외된 이웃들이 병원진료나 문화관람 등 외부활동을 안전하고 편안하게 영위할 수 있게 됐다는 평가다.
코로나19로 인해 사업이 일시적으로 중단되는 위기도 있었지만 작년 12월 사업재개를 알리며 노인복지시설 60곳에 각 기관의 명칭이 입혀진 승합차를 전달한 바 있다.
올해는 농어촌 지역에 소재한 장애인복지시설을 대상으로 승합차 총 40대를 지원할 계획이며, 자세한 내용은 한국마사회 사회공헌재단 홈페이지를 통해 확인할 수 있다.
정기환 한국마사회장 겸 재단이사장은 “말은 예로부터 중요한 이동수단으로서, 국민드림마차 사업을 통해 이동에 어려움을 겪는 이웃들에게 한국마사회가 든든한 발이 돼 드릴 것”이라며 “앞으로도 아동, 노인 등 취약계층을 대상으로 다양한 지원을 지속해 나갈 계획이다”고 전했다.
