윤석열 대통령이 오는 10일부터 15일까지 2박 3일간 투르크메니스탄·카자흐스탄·우즈베키스탄 등 중앙아시아 3국 국빈 방문에 나선다고 7일 대통령실이 전했다. 이번 순방엔 부인 김건희 여사도 동행한다.
김태효 국가안보실 제1차장은 이날 오후 용산 대통령실 브리핑에서 "3국 공식초청에 따라 이같은 순방 일정이 확정됐다"며 "중앙아시아는 우크라이나 전쟁·중동 분쟁 등으로 글로벌 복합 위기가 확산하며 전략적 중요성이 더욱 커지고 있다"며 이같이 밝혔다. 올해 첫 해외 순방이자 지난해 12월15일 네덜란드 순방 이후 178일 만의 해외 일정이다.
윤 대통령 내외는 오는 10∼11일 1박 2일간 투르크메니스탄을 방문 후 11∼13일까지 카자흐스탄, 13∼15일까지 우즈베키스탄을 각각 방문한다.
김 차장은 "고대 실크로드 중심지 중앙아시아는 유럽·아시아를 잇는 전략 요충지"라며 "이번 중앙아시아 순방은 중앙아시아 5개국 중 경제·인구 측면서 잠재력이 크고 우리와 긴밀하고 우리 기업이 활발히 진출한 3개 국을 방문하는 것"이라고 전했다.

이어 11~13일 카자흐스탄에서 고려인 등 동포간담회와 대통령 초청 친교만찬·국민감사기념비 헌화·공식환영식·정상회담·국빈 오찬 등을 진행한다.
