현대차그룹 재직자를 대상으로 설치되는 첨단융합안전공학과는 빠른 속도로 변화하는 산업현장을 이해하고 새로운 위험요소에 발빠르게 대응할 수 있는 현장 중심의 전문인력을 양성함으로써 안전하고 지속가능한 작업환경과 문화를 정착시키기 위한 차원이다.
최근 로봇을 비롯해 인공지능(AI), 사물인터넷(IoT), 빅데이터 등의 첨단·스마트 기술들이 제조과정뿐만 아니라 사업장 안전솔루션으로 적극 도입되고 있다.
현대차그룹 역시 완성차, 부품, 철강, 건설현장 등의 기존 사업장에 스마트 첨단 기술을 적용하고 있으며, 미국 조지아주 전기차 신공장 ‘HMGMA’, ‘울산 EV 전용공장’, ‘화성 EVO 플랜트’ 등은 인간 중심의 첨단 스마트 제조시설로 구축하고 있어 글로벌 첨단 안전 전문가 확보가 필요한 상황이다.
