대통령 직속 국가인공지능(AI)위원회가 오는 7월 출범하는 가운데 위원장은 윤석열 대통령이 맡는다.
19일 대통령실에 따르면 국가AI위원회가 위원 구성 등 준비 작업을 마무리 후 다음달 본격 출범 예정이다. 비상근직 부위원장엔 AI전략최고위협의회 공동위원장을 맡고 있는 염재호 태재대 총장 등이 유력 검토 중인 걸로 알려졌다.
국가AI위원회는 대통령 직속 자문회의로 반도체 분야 민관 협력을 뒷받침하고 국가 전체 AI 혁신 방향·정부 정책을 총괄할 것으로 보인다.
앞서 지난 4월 윤 대통령은 용산 대통령실에서 열린 '반도체 현안 점검회의'에서 "AI 반도체 이니셔티브를 실현하고 AI 기술에서 G3 국가로 도약키 위해선 민관 협력이 중요하다"며 "국가AI위원회를 신설하겠다"고 말한 바 있다.
또 "AI·AI 반도체 분야에 2027년까지 9조4000억을 투자하고 AI 반도체 혁신 기업 성장을 돕는 1조4000억 규모 펀드를 조성하겠다"며 지원을 약속한 바 있다.
지난달엔 17조 규모 '반도체 금융지원 프로그램'을 포함 총 26조 규모 반도체 산업 종합지원 방안을 발표했었다.
