올해 상반기 29개국 대표단 273명이 세종시를 방문한 것으로 나타났다.
세종시에 따르면 19일 올해 상반기 세종시를 공식 방문한 해외 대표단은 전 세계 29개국 273명이라고 밝혔다.
올 상반기 방문 규모는 지난해 상반기 14개국 122명과 비교해 두 배 이상 증가한 수치다.
해외 각국 대표단은 세종시 도시통합정보센터, 빅데이터 자율주행 관제센터, 세종도시교통공사, 시청사 민원실, 책문화센터 등을 견학하며 지능형 서비스와 민원 대응 서비스 사례 등을 학습했다.
올 상반기 세종시를 방문한 해외 대표단은 19일 방문한 베트남 청년 국가공무원 대표단을 포함해 아세안 국가와 중앙아시아, 아프리카, 유럽 등 세계 각국에 포진해 있다.
특히 지능형도시 개발에 관심이 높은 몽골은 지난 4월 내각사무처와 지방공무원이 방문한 것을 비롯해 셀렝게주, 볼강 아이막, 울란바토르(바양골구) 등에서 대표단이 총 4차례에 걸쳐 58명을 파견했다.
이외에도 인니, 말레이, 필리핀, 캄보디아, 태국, 동티모르, 부탄, 라오스 등 아세안 국가와 키르기스스탄, 우즈베키스탄, 타지키스탄 등 중앙아시아 국가에서도 세종시의 선진 도시계획과 정책을 공유했다.
아시아 이외 지역에서는 유럽(프랑스·영국), 중동(사우디아라비아), 남미(페루), 아프리카(가나, 카메룬, 시에라리온)에서 대표단이 세종시를 방문해 지능형도시 우수 정책 등을 벤치마킹했다.
또, 세계은행 연구원과 서울시립대 인턴 대표단, 서울대학교 행정대학원 소속 외국 공무원 등의 연수를 유치해 행정수도 세종을 세계에 알리는 계기가 됐다.
시는 지난해부터 중앙부처와 국책연구기관 등 유관기관 13곳과 협력하여 지방 주도로 국제협력 실무협의회를 구성하고, 이들 기관이 운영하는 해외 공무원 연수과정 유치를 추진해 왔다.
아울러 시청 직원으로 구성된 외국어 지원단을 운영해 통역을 지원하고, 해외 각 도시 대표단의 시찰에 참여하게 함으로써 직원들의 국제화 역량을 강화하는 계기로 삼고 있다.
이러한 성과를 인정받아 시 출범 이후 최초로 2023년 지방외교 및 공공외교 우수사례로 각각 선정됐다.
