세종시가 19일 정부세종컨벤션센터에서 ‘2024 핵테온 세종(HackTheon Sejong)’를 개최하며 사이버보안의 미래를 향해 큰 걸음을 내디뎠다.
개막식에는 최민호 시장을 비롯해 시의원, 과학기술정보통신부, 고려대학교(세종), 한국과학기술정보연구원, 한국정보보호학회, 미국 실리콘밸리 사이버보안 협의회(SVCSI) 등 주요 인사가 참석했다.
개막식에 앞서 시는 사이버보안 인재양성과 정보보호 연구협력을 위해 세종시, 고려대학교(세종), 한국정보보호학회, 실리콘밸리 사이버보안협의회(SVCSI)와 다자간 업무협약식을 체결했다.
내용은 ▲‘핵테온 세종’ 추진 협력 ▲사이버보안 인재 양성 ▲사이버보안 위협 대응 및 융합보안 기반 강화 ▲정보보호 산업육성 및 일자리 생태계 조성 등으로, 협약 기간은 3년이다.
시는 이번 협약을 발판 삼아 ‘핵테온 세종’을 중심으로 사이버보안 역량을 강화하고 국내외 사이버보안 협력체계를 더욱 견고히 해나갈 방침이다.
이날 사이버보안 경진대회는 온라인 예선을 통과한 고급 20팀(국내 14, 해외 6), 초급 20팀(국내 5, 해외 15)이 총상금 3,800만 원을 두고 치열한 공방전을 벌였다.
이어 ‘해커의 신들이 세종에 모이다’라는 의미와 해커(Hacker), 판테온(Pantheon), 세종(Sejong)을 담아낸 화려한 영상으로 개막 행사의 열기를 끌어올렸다.
또 실리콘밸리 사이버보안협의회(SVCSI), 한국정보보호학회, 핵테온 세종이 함께하는 사이버보안 국제 연합콘퍼런스에서는 구글사의 비클란트 난다(Vikrant Nanda)가 ‘보안, 개인정보, 리스크에 대한 모험’을 주제로 강연을 펼쳤다.

최민호 시장은 “인공지능, 양자컴퓨팅 시대에 국내외 사이버보안 전문가들이 대거 참여해 최신 사이버보안 기술을 공유하고 미래의 보안 위협에 대비할 좋은 기회였다”며 “이번 행사를 계기로 핵테온 세종을 국내외 전문가들이 참여하는 사이버보안 축제로 지속 발전시켜 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
