[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] ㈜젠바디(대표 정점규)는 지난 22일 거창군 남상면에서 ㈜젠바디 BR센터 거창공장 준공식을 개최했다.
이날 준공식에는 ㈜젠바디 정점규 대표를 포함한 구인모 거창군수, 신성범 국회의원, 김일수, 박주언 경상남도의회 도의원, 박수자 거창군의회 부의장을 비롯한 군의원, 조삼술 합천군의회 의장, 일본 기와 그룹의 대표 Azuma상, 식약처, 안전성평가연구소, 한국화학연구원 등 국내외 바이오 기관 및 기업의 임직원 100여 명이 참석했다.
㈜젠바디 BR센터는 지난해 5월 거창군과 ㈜젠바디 간의 투자협약 MOU를 체결한 후, 12월 착공해 올해 6월 완공됐으며, 사업비 85억 원을 투자해 거창군 남상면 무촌리 3,000여 평 부지에 지상 1층 철골 패널 구조의 공장 시설로 완성됐다.
이번 시설은 어떠한 미생물도 침투할 수 없는 밀폐성과 상시 23~25도 온도와 50% 내외의 습도를 유지하여 무균성이 보장되는 최첨단 시설이며, ㈜젠바디는 새로운 시설에서 기술혁신을 통해 신제품 출시에 매진할 계획이다.
정점규 대표는 “고교시절을 거창군에서 보낸 인연으로 거창군에 투자하게 됐다”라며 “사람을 먼저 생각하고 더 좋은 사회를 만들기 위한 책임감을 느끼고 있으며, 이를 위해 새로운 기술과 혁신을 거창군에서 만들어 나가겠다”라고 소감을 밝혔다.
구인모 군수는 축사를 통해 “지난 코로나 시기부터 맺어온 거창군과 ㈜젠바디의 소중한 인연이 우리 군 투자유치까지 이어져 매우 뜻깊고 감사드린다, 앞으로 거창공장이 주요 거점이 되어서 ㈜젠바디가 세계적인 기업으로 성장하길 바란다”라고 말했다.
한편 ㈜젠바디는 충북 천안시에 소재하는 의약용 화합물 및 항생물질을 제조하는 업체로, 연 매출이 1,200억 원에 달하는 중대형 기업이다.
지난 2015년 지카바이러스 감염증 유행 시에 세계 최초로 진단키트를 개발하여 브라질 정부에 진단키트를 공급해 확진자 수를 대폭 감소시켰고, 코로나19 펜데믹 시기에는 신속진단키트를 개발해 저렴한 가격으로 해외로 수출하는 큰 성과를 냈다.
또한 ㈜젠바디는 지역사회에 도움을 주고자 2020년 코로나19 극복 마스크 1만장을 거창군에 기부하고, 2022년에는 남상면 지역보장협의체 성금 200만원 기탁했으며, 올해는 고향사랑기부금 300만 원을 전달하는 등 기업의 지역환원사업을 실천해 오고 있다.
