[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 양산시는 양산의 독립운동사를 알리고 자주독립의 정신을 미래세대에 전승하기 위해 지난해 8월 15일 개관한 ‘양산시립독립기념관’을 ‘제2종 박물관’으로 등록을 마쳤다고 4일 밝혔다.
이번 박물관 등록은 박물관 및 미술관 진흥법에 따라 지난 5월 ‘문화체육관광부의 상반기 공립박물관 설립타당성 사전평가’에서 최종 통과된 이후 경남상도 박물관 등록실사평가에서 최종 승인됐다.
이에 따라 양산시는 양산시립박물관에 이어 10년만에 2번째로 정식 등록된 공립박물관을 소유하게 됐다.
이번 등록으로 ‘양산시립독립기념관’은 공공박물관으로 교육용 전력요금이 적용되는 등 각종 세제 감면혜택을 볼 수 있다.
또 한국박물관협회 및 경남박물관협의회와의 협력 구축활동이 가능하며 지역 거점 박물관으로 설립 취지에 맞는 각종 기금 사업 및 공모사업에도 참가가 가능한 공립박물관의 역할을 수행할 것으로 보인다.
박물관은 전문인력, 소장유물, 시설 등에 따라 1종과 2종으로 구분하는데, 양산시립독립기념관은 설립단계부터 규모와 시설을 감안해 2종관 등록을 목표로 설계됐다.
‘제2종 박물관’의 등록 요건은 박물관 소장자료가 60점 이상이어야 하고 학예사를 1명 이상 갖추고 있어야 한다.
또 시설로는 82㎡ 이상의 전시실과 수장고를 갖추고 있어야 하며 별도로 연구실(사무실), 자료실, 도서실, 강당 중 1개 이상의 시설과 화재·도난방지시설, 온습도 조절장치가 마련돼 있어야 한다.
지난달 28일 개최된 박물관 등록 관련 현지조사 위원회에서 양산시립독립기념관은 기념관으로 시설면에서 완벽하고 이미 개관 이후 각종 전시 및 사회교육, 행사 등을 진행하여 참석 전문가들로부터 지역 문화발전 및 설립취지에 걸맞는 기념관의 역할을 충실히 수행할 것이라는 호평과 함께 심사위원 5명 전원으로부터 통과기준점수를 상회하는 높은 평가를 받았다.
양산시립독립기념관은 경남 지자체에서 건립한 유일의 독립기념관으로 상설전시실(226.8㎡), 기획전시실(113.4㎡)과 역사자료실(113.4㎡), 다목적강당(126.8㎡) 등으로 구성됐다.
또 현재 양산의 독립운동사 관련 유물 450여점을 소장하고 관련 전문 학예사가 활동하고 있다.
이와 함께 관람객들의 편의를 위한 북카페, 수유실과 어린이들을 위한 역사체험실을 운영하고 있다.
작년 8월 15일 개관 이후 지난달 말까지 5만명에 가까운 관람객이 기념관을 찾았으며 유사 기념관을 건립하기 위한 여러 지자체의 벤치마킹이 줄을 잇고 있다.
신용철 양산시립독립기념관장은 “독립기념관의 박물관 등록은 양산문화 상승에 하나의 상징적 계기가 될 것”이라며 “이번 등록을 계기로 기념관의 설립취지에 맞는 다채로운 전시와 프로그램을 선보여 시민들께 사랑받는 문화기관으로 자리매김할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
