브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 빙그레공익재단은 국가보훈부와 ‘2024년도 독립유공자 후손 장학금 수여식’을 지난 24일 서울 용산구에 위치한 백범김구기념관에서 개최했다고 25일 밝혔다.
이날 수여식에는 빙그레공익재단 정수용 이사장, 남궁선 국가보훈부 서울지방보훈청장, 이규중 광복회 사무총장이 참석해 2024년도 장학생 45명에게 6000만원의 장학금을 전달했다. 장학생은 조국 독립을 위해 헌신하신 독립유공자의 후손 중 국가보훈부의 추천을 통해 선발했다.
이날 수여식에 참석한 장학생들은 백범김구기념관 전시 해설 관람 투어를 통해 백범 김구 선생을 비롯, 선조들의 독립운동 정신에 대해 이해하고 감사하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다
빙그레공익재단은 3.1운동 및 대한민국임시정부 수립 100주년을 기념해 2018년부터 국가보훈부와 업무협약을 맺고 독립유공자 후손 장학사업을 매년 시행하고 있다.
1차 장학사업을 통해 135명의 독립유공자 후손에게 1억8000만원의 장학금을 전달했으며, 2차 장학사업 기간 동안 225명의 장학생에게 3억원의 장학금을 지급한다. 1, 2차 장학사업을 통해 8년간 360명에게 총 4억8000만원의 장학금을 지급하게 된다.
빙그레공익재단 관계자는 “2024년 3.1운동 및 대한민국임시정부 수립 105주년을 맞이하는 뜻깊은 해에 열린 장학금 수여식을 통해 국가를 위해 헌신하신 독립유공자의 숭고한 정신과 뜻을 기억하고, 감사와 존경의 마음이 확산되는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “보훈의 가치를 널리 알릴 수 있도록 장학사업을 꾸준히 이어 나갈 것이다”고 전했다.
