브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국회가 2일 이진숙 방송통신위원장에 대한 탄핵소추안을 의결했다. 이에 따라 이진숙 위원장은 취임 사흘만에 직무가 정지됐다.
국회는 이날 본회의를 열고 이 위원장에 대한 탄핵안을 표결에 부친 결과, 재석 의원 188명 중 찬성 186명, 반대 1명, 무효 1명으로 가결됐다.
이번 탄핵안은 더불어민주당과 조국혁신당, 진보당, 사회민주당, 새로운미래, 기본소득당 등 야 6당이 주도했는데, 이들은 인사청문회에서 이 위원장의 도덕성과 자질 부족이 드러났음에도 윤석열 대통령이 임명을 강행했다고 지적했다.
또한 방통위 2인 체제 의결에 위법성이 있다고도 했다. 합의체 기구인 방통위에서 이진숙 위원장이 임명 당일 회의를 열고, 상임위원 2명이서 공영방송 이사 선임안을 의결한 것은 방통위 설치법에 위배된다는 것이다. 현재 3명의 상임위원은 공석 상태다.
또한 자신에 대한 기피신청에 대해 스스로 의결에 참여해 기각시킨 것 역시 법에 어긋나는 일이라고 했다.
그러나 국민의힘에선 방통위가 2인 체제가 된 것은 방통위원을 추천하지 않은 야당 탓이라며 그 책임을 야당으로 돌렸다.
추경호 국민의힘 원내대표는 "야당이 신임 방통위원장이 출근하는 첫날부터 탄핵하겠다고 겁박했다"고 비판했고, 최형두 의원도 "탄핵 사유로 인용한 방통위 2인 체제를 해소할 방법이 있지 않나. 그런데도 민주당이 야당 몫 방통위원 2명을 추천조차 하지 않고 있는 것"이라고 말했다.
한편, 정부 역시 곧바로 수용 불가 입장을 내고 윤석열 대통령에게 재의요구권 행사를 건의할 방침이다.
