대통령실이 22일 한국은행 금융통화위원회(금통위)의 기준금리 동결 결정에 "금통위 고유 권한이나 내수 진작 측면서 보면 아쉬움이 있다"고 밝혔다.
대통령실 관계자는 이날 한은이 현 3.50% 기준금리를 유지키로 한 가운데 "금리 동결 관련 단순 의견"이라며 이같이 밝혔다.
한은은 이날 통화정책방향 결정회의를 열고 13차례 연속 기준금리를 동결키로 결정한 가운데 3.50% 기준금리는 지난해 1월 13일부터 이날까지 1년 7개월 9일간 유지됐다.
향후 오는 10월 11일 금통위 시점을 고려시 약 1년 9개월간 이어질 예정으로 한은 설립 이래 횟수 및 기간 모두 역대 최장 동결 기록이다.
또 한은은 올해 연간 성장률 전망치를 2.4%로 지난 5월 전망 당시 대비 0.1%p 하향 조정했다.
대통령실이 금통위가 거시 경제 상황을 반영해 독립 결정하는 기준금리 관련해 부정적 반응을 내놓은 건 이례적이다.
