윤석열 대통령이 30일 방한 중인 존 물레나 미 하원 중국특위원장 등 미 하원의원 대표단 6명을 접견하고 '한·미-한·미·일 협력 강화를 위한 지속적 성원'을 당부했다고 대통령실이 전했다.
대통령실에 따르면 윤 대통령은 이날 용산 대통령실에서 대표단을 접견하고 미 의회의 한·미동맹에 대한 초당적 지지에 감사를 표하며 "미 의회의 관심·지지 덕분에 한·미동맹이 지난 70년간 양국 자유·번영을 뒷받침하는 '글로벌 포괄 전략 동맹'으로 성장할 수 있었다"고 말했다.
또 "글로벌 복합위기를 극복해 나가는 데 공동 가치를 기반으로 하는 한·미-한·미·일 간 긴밀한 협력이 필수적"이라며 "앞으로도 이런 협력이 강화될 수 있도록 미 의회가 지속적 성원을 보내달라"고 당부했다.
