점검 대상은 학교 주변 200m 내 어린이 식품안전보호구역(101곳)에 있는 학교 매점, 문구점, 분식점, 학원가와 일반휴게음식점, 편의점, 슈퍼, 무인 식품판매소 등이다.
이를 위해 시는 어린이 기호식품 전담관리원 10명, 공무원 3명으로 구성된 5개 반 13명의 민·관 합동 점검반을 꾸렸다.
점검반은 각 대상 업소의 찾아가 어린이들이 좋아하는 아이스크림, 과자, 빵, 음료, 분식 등 식품의 소비기한 경과 여부, 무신고·무표시 제품의 진열·판매 여부, 위생 상태, 허위·과대광고 등을 들여다본다.
위생 상태가 불량하거나 위해 우려가 있는 어린이 기호식품은 수거 검사를 병행한다.
점검 과정에서 적발된 사항은 경중에 따라 현장 시정 조치, 행정처분, 반복 점검이 이뤄진다.
