브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= SK그룹은 최태원 SK 회장이 지난 3일 서울시 종로구 서린사옥에서 빌 헤거티(Bill Hagerty) 의원 등 미국 상원의원 7명을 만나 SK를 비롯한 한국 기업에 대한 초당적 지원을 요청하는 등 양국 경제협력 증진 방안에 대해 폭넓은 의견을 나눴다고 4일 밝혔다.
먼저, 최 회장은 미국 상원대표단이 지속적으로 한국을 방문하며 양국의 우호증진에 기여해주는 것에 감사의 뜻을 밝혔다.
최 회장은 “작년에 이어 상원의원 대표단을 두번째로 맞이하게 됐다”며 “SK와 한국 기업들의 활동에 많은 관심을 보여줘 감사하게 생각한다”고 말했다.
앞서 최 회장은 지난해 10월 척 슈머 민주당 상원 원내대표 등 상원의원단을 만나 경제협력 방안을 논의한 바 있다.
또한, 최 회장은 SK그룹의 주요 사업을 소개하고 SK가 양국 발전에 포괄적으로 기여하고 있음을 강조했다.
최 회장은 “SK그룹은 한국과 미국 양국에서 반도체 생태계를 구축하고 있다”며 “이를 통해 양국의 AI 리더십 강화에도 기여할 수 있을 것이다”고 말했다.
