예수 시대에 살았던 이들이, 예수의 12제자였다. 아무리 신앙심이 투철하다 해도 예수와 동 시대에 살지 않았다면, 예수의 12제자가 될 수 없었다. 어떤 업적을 계산할 때, 그만큼 '생존 시대'가 중요하다는 뜻이다.
필자는 주간언론-인터넷 언론의 편집국장-발행인(토요신문-일요서울-주간현대-사건의 내막-브레이크뉴스)으로 33년간을 종사를 해왔다.
이 기간(생존 시대), 두 가지 시대정신과 함께 살아왔다. 하나는 정치적으로 군사적인 독재(獨裁)시기에 민주화 운동을 충실하게 기록했고, 또 하나는 대한민국의 최대 흥성시기(興盛時期)에 기업의 정보를 세세하게 기록했었다.
나는 이론가나 사상가가 아니다. 기자-언론인이다. 기자-언론인이란? 기록자(記錄者)라는 뜻이다. 나는 미디어를 통해 기록을 남기는 실천가였다. 대한민국의 민주화(民主化) 시기-대한민국이 경제적으로 최고로 흥(興)하는 시기의 기록자였다.
이런 엄청난 시기에, 주간신문-인터넷 신문에서 일반 대중(大衆)들의 알권리에 복무했다. 이런 중에, 나는 알게, 또는 모르게, 시대정신(時代精神)을 견인(牽引)하는 위치에 서게 됐다. 세상의 흐름에 떠밀리면서, 그런 과분한 역할을 수행하게 됐다.
예수시대에 예수와 함께 살았던 동(同) 시대 신앙인들이 예수의 12제자가 된 것은, 그 시대에 함께 살았기 때문에 가능한 일이었다. 시대가 그렇게 만들었다는, 마찬가지의 상황이었다.
필자가 대한민국의 민주화 시기-기업의 대 융성기(隆盛期)에 살았기 때문에. 그런 시대정신을 실천하는 행동대원의 기회를, 확실하게 거머쥐었다고 생각한다. 이는, 필자 인생에서 최고의 행운(幸運)이다.
고대 로마에서 유행했던 검투에 나선 검투사(劍鬪士=칼을 가지고 서로 맞붙어 싸우는 사람)들은 목숨을 걸고, 치열하게 대결한다. 나는 일면 '검투사'를 닮았었다. 주간신문은 주간에 한 번 발행하는 신문이므로, 주간 단위로 치열하게 싸우는 사람이었다. 나는 시대정신에 포로로 잡힌 검투사(?)였다. 대한민국에서 발행되어 온 몇 안 되는 주간신문의 많은 지면(紙面)을 장악, 투쟁해왔었다. 또한 '번개처럼 빠르게'라는 행동강령을 내걸고, 인터넷 신문을 이끌어 왔다. 필자가 오너(사주)인 인터넷신문 브레이크뉴스가 지난 21년간 탑재한 뉴스-정보의 총 수는 102만건(1,027,535건-2024년 9월5일 오전 8시 현재)에 달했다. 이는 인공지능(AI) 시대의 '정보산업의 쌀'(식량)이랄 수 있다.

뉴스-정보를 먼저 장악하는 집단이나 국가는 발전하게 돼 있다. 나는 매 순간(瞬間), 우리 사회가 질적(質的)으로 변동하는 에너지를 실감나게 느낄 수 있었다. 그 느낌의 결과는 대한민국의 민주화-선진국화였다. 그런 면에서 필자는 대한민국의 발전에 헌신해온 사람이다. 필자와 동 시대, 대한민국에 살고 있는 모든 분들은 웅장(雄壯)한 대한민국을 건설한 주역들이라고 생각한다. 이 분들과 함께 한 시대를 살고 있어 행복하다.
돈이 사람을 부려먹지만, 사람은 돈이 이룰 수 없는 웅대(雄大)한 사회-국가를 만들어 간다. 나는 대한민국 민주주의-대한민국 경제 선진국을 만들어 가는데 있어, 최전방의 전사(戰士)로 쓰임 당했다.
행복하게도, 필자는 대한민국의 두 가지 시대정신의 행동대장이었다. 이 두 가지는, 필자의 인생에서 최고의 행운(幸運)이다. 나의 행운아, 고맙다, 고맙다!
