[브레이크뉴스경기남부=광명 이현준기자] 광명시가 환경부 ‘우수 환경교육프로그램’으로 지정됐다.
광명시청소년수련관의 ‘집에서 환경보호 실천하자! 친환경 리빙백서 뉴디즈’와 푸름청소년활동센터의 ‘청소년생태복원활동 두뼘 탄소저감 정원만들기’ 교육 프로그램이 환경부 ‘우수 환경교육프로그램’으로 지정됐다.
환경부 우수 환경교육프로그램은 환경교육법 제21조에 따라 시민 환경교육프로그램의 친환경성, 우수성, 안정성 등을 평가해 지정된다.
광명시는 2023년 광명시지속가능발전협의회 ‘안터생태교육센터 생태교육프로그램’과 광명시청소년수련관 ‘청소년그린뉴딜 뉴디’가 우수 환경교육프로그램으로 지정된 후 이번 지정으로 현재 총 4개의 우수 환경교육프로그램을 운영 중이다.
‘집에서 환경보호 실천하자! 친환경 리빙백서 뉴디즈’는 무심코 넘어가는 환경문제를 청소년이 주도적으로 백서로 담아 일상생활 속에서 환경을 위한 실천을 이끌어내는 프로그램이다.
‘청소년생태복원활동 두뼘 탄소저감 정원만들기’는 기후변화가 미치는 영향을 깨닫고 두뼘 탄소저감 정원을 직접 만들어 탄소중립 실천가가 되어 볼 수 있는 프로그램이다.
추후 관내 초등학생 대상으로 진행 중인 물 환경교육과 올해 시범 교육을 거쳐 내년에 정식 시행 예정인 자원순환 교육 등도 추가 지정받아 지속가능한 광명형 환경교육을 강화할 방침이다.
박승원 광명시장은 “환경교육이 기후 위기 극복의 핵심인 만큼 광명시민의 환경교육 접근성을 높이고 지속적인 참여를 유도하기 위해 교육 프로그램을 개발해 나갈 것”이라며 “광명시가 지속가능한 환경교육의 선도 도시로 자리매김할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 전했다.
한편, 광명시는 2023년 환경교육도시로 지정됐으며 광명시환경교육센터와 연계해 시민 대상 환경교육 확대, 최신 환경교육 정보 지원, 광명시 맞춤형 환경프로그램 및 교재·교구 개발·보급, 국가 및 경기도 각 지역 환경교육 네트워크 확대 등 시민 인식 개선을 위한 환경교육을 적극적으로 추진하고 있다.
