충남 서산시와 (재)서산문화재단이 ‘제21회 서산해미읍성축제’ 를 10월 2일부터 5일까지 해미읍성에서 개최된다.
제21회 서산해미읍성축제’의 주제는‘고성방가(古城放佳) 시즌2’로 ‘지혜의 성, 해미읍성에서 만나는 지혜문화축제’이다. 슬로건은 읍성을 열고 지혜를 만나자‘이다.
올해 해미읍성축제는 ‘고성방가’시즌1이 방문객들에게 사랑받았던 점은 수용하면서도, 역사 체험과 지혜 체험, 지역민, 지역 상인의 상생, 해미읍성의 아이덴티티 찾기 등으로 거듭난다.
축성 600년의 역사를 자랑하는 해미읍성의 역사와 문화를 바탕으로, 과거 현재 미래를 아우르는 지혜문화축제를 펼칠 예정. 메인무대·공연·상생·체험·상설·전시 등 6개 분야에 걸쳐 36개 프로그램으로 구성된다. 이에 따라 읍성 안팎에서 먹거리·볼거리·즐길 거리가 넘쳐나는 대축제의 장이 펼쳐질 예정이다.
서산해미읍성축제는 충청남도에서 유일하게 문화체육부가 로컬100에 선정한 축제이다. 로컬 100은 문화체육관광부는 지역의 문화 매력을 찾아내고 지역문화의 가치를 널리 알리기 위해 지역의 명소, 콘텐츠, 명인 등을 선발한 것이다.

서산해미읍성은 서해안고속도로 해미IC와 인접해 있어 수도권을 비롯한 전국 각지에서 편리하게 접근할 수 있다. 자가용 이용시 서해안고속도로를 이용해 서울에서 70분 내외 서부간선도로 금천IC ~ 해미읍성입구 기준로 접근할 수 있으며, 총 10개의 주차장 부지를 확보해 편리한 주차가 가능하다. 한서대학교에도 주차가 가능하며 해미읍성과 한서대학교 사이에는 5분 간격으로 셔틀버스가 운행된다.
서산시는 국군의 날인 10월 1일부터 시작되는 황금연휴에 여행을 떠나는 가족 관람객들이 축제 개막 전일인 10월 1일(국군의 날)에도 오전 11시부터 오후 9시 30분까지 축제 전야제를 즐길 수 있도록 해미읍성을 개방한다.
또 축제 주관처인 서산문화재단의 임진번 대표는 “안견의 무릉도원을 오마주한 무릉송원은 9월 27일 점등하는 만큼, 이날부터 서산해미읍성은 축제 시작이다”라면서 “앞으로 서산의 먹거리, 즐길 거리 개발을 위해 더 노력하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
