대통령실이 12일 북한이 단거리탄도미사일(SRBM) 여러 발을 동해상으로 발사한 것에 대해 "1차적으로 러시아와 군사 교류에 있어 러시아 수출 모델에 대해 실험해보는 게 아닌가 판단하고 있다"고 밝혔다.
대통령실 관계자는 이날 오후 용산 대통령실에서 취재진과 만나 "오늘 발사한 대형 방사포는 단거리 미사일로 분류될 수 있고, 2차적으로 한국에 대해 계속 위협을 가해 온다는 메시지일 수도 있다"며 이같이 말했다.
합동참모본부에 따르면 우리 군은 이날 오전 7시 10분께 북한 평양 일대에서 동해상으로 발사된 SRBM 여러 발을 포착한 가운데 2~5발이 발사된 것으로 파악하고 있다. 해당 미사일은 KN-25 600㎜ 초대형 방사포로 추정되고 있다.
또 북한의 지속적 오물 풍선 도발에 대해선 "우리 민간 단체 대북 전단에 대해 북한도 뭔가 대응한다는 그런 원칙 하에 이뤄지고 있다"며 "오물 풍선이 전자 장치에 의해 낙하지점에서 온도가 올라 끊어지게 돼 있는데 열내고 오작동하는 가운데 화재 위험성이 노출됐고 잘 관찰하며 철저히 대비하고 있다"고 전했다.
앞서 북한은 지난 4~8일 5일 연속 쓰레기 풍선 1300여개를 살포했고 풍선 낙하 지점에서 두 차례 화재가 발생한 가운데 군은 "발열 타이머가 낙하물 비닐을 가열시켜 공중서 찢는 방식으로 인화성 물질에 대해선 아직 확인된 바 없다"고 밝혔다.
