윤석열 대통령이 12일 신임 심우정 검찰총장(53·사법연수원 26기)·김복형 헌법재판관(56·사법연수원 24기) 임명안을 각각 재가했다.
윤 대통령은 지난달 11일 이원석 검찰총장 후임에 심 신임 총장을 지명한 가운데 국회는 지난 3일 심 총장에 대한 인사청문회를 실시했으나 인사청문보고서가 채택되지 않았다.
윤 대통령은 국회에 심 신임 총장에 대한 인사청문경과보고서를 전날까지 재송부해달라 요청한 바 있다. 인사청문회법에 따르면 국회가 재송부에 응하지 않을 시 대통령은 다음 날부터 후보자를 임명할 수 있다.
윤석열 정부 두 번째이자 제46대 검찰총장에 오른 심 신임 총장은 오는 2026년 9월까지 2년간 검찰 조직을 이끌게 된다. 심 신임 총장은 법무부·대검 주요 부서를 거친 가운데 법무·검찰 행정 업무에 능한 '기획통' 평가를 받는다. 윤 대통령이 지난 서울중앙지검장이던 때 형사1부장으로 함께 근무한 바 있다.
