제2회 평택시민회 포럼 개최

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=평택 이현준기자] 평택시민회는 제2회 평택시민회 포럼을 개최했다.

지난 12일 한국프레스센터 국제회의장에서 ‘평택, 대한민국 안보와 경제의 심장’을 주제로 1부에서는 정장선 평택시장이 평택 시정설명을 했고, 2부에서는 김승겸 육군대장과 원유철 회장이 각각 ‘한미연합사의 기능과 역할’ 및 ‘유라시아 큰 길’을 주제로 안보·경제 분야 특강을 진행했다.

정장선 시장은 “뜻깊은 포럼을 개최하신 평택시민회에 각별한 감사를 드린다”며 “평택시는 반도체 수도로서의 역할과 수소경제 구축을 통해 향후 100만 시민행복 특례시 기틀을 마련해 경기 남부권 대표 도시로 거듭날 수 있도록 노력하고 있으며, 시민회원들의 아낌없는 성원과 협조를 당부드린다”고 전했다.

원유철 회장은 “평택은 세계 최대 규모의 반도체 생산 설비를 갖춘 삼성전자 평택 캠퍼스가 자리잡고 있다”며 “한미연합사가 주둔하고 있는 한미동맹의 상징 도시로 평택이 명실상부한 대한민국의 경제와 안보의 심장”이라고 강조했다.

한편, 1978년 설립된 평택시민회는 평택 출신 정·관계, 재계, 법조계, 언론계, 학계, 시민단체 등 각계각층의 인사들로 구성됐다. 평택 지역발전과 지원, 향토 문화, 장학사업 등의 활동을 전개하고 대한민국 경제·안보 중심도시로서 핵심적 역할 수행을 위해 200여 명의 평택 출신 인사가 뜻을 모은 시민단체이다.
