[브레이크뉴스경기남부=화성 이현준기자] 화성시는 4개 구청 신설을 정식 건의하기 위해 구 명칭 선정을 진행한다.
시는 시민편의와 효율적인 행정서비스 제공을 위해 구청을 신설하는 대도시 행정체제 개편을 추진 중으로, 2019년부터 본격적으로 일반구 설치 절차를 시작해 지역정계와 시민의 다양한 의견을 청취해 4개 일반구를 설치하는 구획안을 마련했으며 지난 7월 24일부터 8월 7일까지 권역별 시민설명회를 개최했다.
권역별 시민설명회 결과, 참석자의 83.8%가 4개 구청 구획안에 찬성했으며, 8월 19일부터 25일까지 전문여론조사기관를 통해 실시한 설문조사에서 응답자의 79.8%가 시가 제시한 구획안에 찬성했다.
시는 구청 신설 필요성과 구획안에 대한 높은 시민 찬성 여론을 바탕으로 정책광장을 통한 시민투표로 구 명칭을 정하고 시의회의 의견청취 절차를 거쳐 일반구 설치 계획을 확정해 경기도와 행정안전부에 4개 구청 신설을 정식 신청할 예정이다.
시는 시의회 의견청취에 앞서 화성시의 발전방향과 미래상을 담은 구 명칭 선정을 위해 26일까지 화성시민 정책광장 설문시스템에서 권역별 명칭투표를 실시하고 있다.
이번 설문은 지난 8월 22일부터 29일까지 실시된 공모를 통해 접수된 총 1,748건의 명칭(안)에 대해 전문가, 권역별 시의원, 각 읍면동별 주민대표로 구성된 구 명칭선정 심의위원회에서 역사성, 대표성, 표현성, 조화성을 기준으로 고려한 심사를 거쳐 선정된 2개의 명칭 후보가 대상이다.
설문조사 명칭 후보군에 오른 권역별 명칭으로는 ▲1권역 만세구, 당성구 ▲2권역 효행구, 동화구 ▲3권역 병점구, 효행구 ▲ 4권역 동탄구가 포함됐다.
