성류문화제는 문향과 충절의 고장으로 불린 울진을 널리 홍보하고 지역문화를 창달하기 위해 1977년부터 시작된 군민의 문화축제한마당이다.
성류굴, 연호문화센터, 연호공원 일원에서 개최될 이번 행사는 지역의특색있는 문예 행사와 다양한 전통문화를 접목시켜 관광객은 물론 지역주민들에게 풍성한 볼거리, 먹거리, 즐길 거리를 제공할 예정이다.
행사 첫날인 9월 27일 풍농·풍어를 기원하며 질병과 재앙을 막고 관광객들의 안전과 군민의 번영을 바라는 성류제향을 시작으로 3일간의 성류문화제막이 열리게 된다.
제22회 울진봉평리신라비 서예대전, 제6회 울진 전국한시 백일장대회,군민 민속장기대회와 초·중·고 학생 백일장·서예·사생대회가 성류문화제 기간 내내 펼쳐져 문예를 사랑하는 관광객과 군민들이 특별한 경험을 할 것으로 기대된다.
또한, 초대작가전, 미술·사진전, 야생화 전시, 금강송 목공예체험,도자기 물레체험 등 체험행사와 민속공연, 전통혼례 등 문화공연은 행사장을 방문하는 관광객들에게 즐거움을 선사할 예정이다.
아울러, 이번 행사에 울진 전통놀이인'울진십이령바지게꾼 마당극'공연과 더불어 국가무형문화재인'통영 오광대놀이 마당극'과 풍악광대놀이예술단에서 진행하는'토리를 찾아서, 얼씨구!'공연은 성류문화제를 더욱 풍성하게 만들어 줄 예정이다.
