가족관계 해체와 빈곤 등 불가피한 사유로 장례를 치르기 힘든 저소득 어르신 사망자에게 상조 서비스를 지원해 고인의 존엄성을 유지하기 위한 민선8기 공약 사업이다.
지원 대상은 관내 65세 이상 노인 사망자 가운데 생계·의료·주거 급여 등 장제급여를 받지 않는 차상위계층이다.
공통 지원 사항은 ▲장례지도사 지원 ▲접대용품 200인분 제공 등이다.
선택 사항으로 ▲장례도우미 4명(1일 10시간) ▲장의차량(45인승 버스, 리무진 중 택1) ▲오동나무 관과 유골함 ▲화장용 수의와 함백산추모공원 화장 비용 등 4가지가 있어 하나를 선택해 지원받을 수 있다.
인력 지원을 원하지 않는 경우 장의차량, 관, 수의, 입관 지원, 화장비 중에서 1가지를 대체 지원한다.
