[브레이크뉴스경기남부=광명 이현준기자] 박승원 광명시장은 관광의 지속가능성 확보를 해야한다고 밝혔다.
지난 24일 지속가능관광 지방정부협의회 2024년 하반기 정기총회에서 박 시장은 “현재의 중앙정부 주도의 관광정책에서 각 지자체가 직면한 지역 현실과 특성을반영한 관광정책으로 전환해 추진하는 것을 적극 고민해야 한다”며 “협의회가 지자체의 다양한 목소리를 통합하고 공동의 목표를 설정하는 연결고리가 돼야 한다”고 강조했다.
지속가능관광 지방정부협의회는 기존 대규모 관광으로 인한 부정적 영향 해결을 위해 지속가능관광의 필요성에 공감하고 뜻을 함께하는 지자체가 모여 지속가능관광담론 확산, 정책발굴, 공동 대응을 위해 지난 2022년 3월 창립했다.
광명시를 비롯해 전국 23개 지방정부가 회원 도시로 참여하고 있다.
이날 회의에는 광명시를 비롯한 13개 지자체와 이학영 국회 부의장, 김정호 경기도의원 등이 회의에 참석한 가운데 지속가능관광 활성화를 위한 2025년도 주요 사업과 회원 간 협력 강화 방안을 논의했다.
이날 ▲2024년 활동 보고 ▲2025년 사업계획 및 예산안 ▲규약 개정등을 의결했다. 또한 생활 인구 확대를 위한 관광 전략과 활성화 방안에 대한 지방정부의 역할 등을 논의했다.
이날 참석한 협의회 관계자는 “기존 양적 성장에 치중한 관광정책의 문제점을 지적하며 환경·경제·사회문화적 측면에서 상생할 수 있는 정책적 방안을 마련해야 한다”며 “지속가능한 관광생태계 조성을 위한 대안 마련이 필요하다”고 말했다.
한편, 광명시는 2022년 협의회 가입 후 광명시에 적합한 지속가능관광 육성방향 제시를 위해 다양한 노력을 기울이고 있다.
시는 연구용역, 지속가능관광 육성 및 지원 근거 마련을 위한 조례 제정, 지속가능관광 연대 출범, 지역 내 소상인과 사회적경제기업이 함께참여하는 광명의 공정여행 팸투어 등을 진행 중이다.
