[브레이크뉴스경기남부=수원 이현준기자] 경기도경제과학진흥원은 ‘2024 경기 스타트업 서밋'을 개최했다.
지난 25일 사흘간 일정으로 수원컨벤션센터에서 경기도가 주최하고 경기도경제과학진흥원(경과원)과 스페인 사우스서밋(South Summit)이 공동 주관하는 행사는 수원컨벤션센터에서 막을 올렸다.
이번 박람회는 스페인 사우스서밋과 협업해 열린 첫 국제 행사로 김동연 경기도지사가 2022년 취임과 함께 경기도를 스타트업 천국으로 만들겠다는 공약 구현을 위해 준비됐다. 아시아에서 경기도가 처음이다.
사우스서밋은 2012년 스페인에서 시작해 10여 년간 누적 투자액이 약 13조 원, 7개 이상 유니콘기업 배출을 이끈 남부 유럽 지역 최대 규모의 스타트업 박람회다.
경기 스타트업 서밋은 ‘스타트업 천국 경기도’를 슬로건으로 다양한 부대행사와 전시, 체험 등을 진행한다. 스페인, 중국, 인도 등 전 세계 10개국에서 63개사의 해외 스타트업, 국내 190개사 등 총 253여 개의 부스가 참여한다.
이날 개막식에는 김현곤 경기도 경제부지사를 비롯해 이제영 경기도의회 미래과학협력위원회 위원장, 강성천 경과원장, 기예르모 커크패트릭 데 라 베가 주한스페인대사, 마리아 벤후메아 사우스서밋 회장 등 국내외 스타트업 생태계 관계자들이 다수 참석하며 자리를 빛냈다.
사우스 서밋을 주최한 김현곤 경기도 경제부지사는 “경기도 미래의 해답은 스타트업에 있으며 경기도는 스타트업을 위한 다양한 정책적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”며 “여기 계신 분들 모두 글로벌 기업으로 다시 만나길 기대한다”고 말했다.
이어 강성천 경과원장은 환영사를 통해 “이번 서밋은 글로벌 스타트업 생태계의 중심지로서 경기도의 역할과 매우 중요하다”며 “스타트업의 투자유치와 글로벌 시장 진출이 경기 스타트업서밋에서부터 시작되기를 바란다”라고 전했다.
박람회는 AI·딥테크 스타트업의 혁신 쇼케이스로 세분화해 운영한다. 스타트업의 혁신 기술 전시 및 체험존 운용, 글로벌 빅테크 기업과 함께하는 오픈 이노베이션, 미래기술 트렌드 및 인사이트 세미나 등으로 나눠 운영한다.
행사 첫날인 이날 오후 개막식을 진행한 가운데 박람회장은 오전부터 이미 AI·딥테크 분야의 혁신 기술과 서비스를 살펴보기 위한 관람객들로 북적였다.
이날 로봇 스타트업인 모빈(MOBINN)의 자율주행로봇 ‘M3’를 볼 수 있었다. M3은 유연한 바퀴를 부착해 일상 속 다양한 장애물을 극복할 수 있도록 설계됐다. 계단을 넘나드는 등 역동적인 주행이 가능하며 야간에도 24시간 배달이 가능한 것이 특징이다.
행사 기간에는 국내외 80여명의 연사가 참여하는 50개 이상의 주제발표가 예정됐다. 개막식 직후 이어진 기조연설에서는 세계적인 로봇공학자 데니스 홍 UCLA 교수가 ‘로봇을 위한 인공지능과 인공지능을 위한 로봇’이라는 주제로 첨단 기술의 혁신적 가능성을 제시하며 참석자들의 뜨거운 호응을 받았다.
또한 글로벌 벤처투자사 인데버 카탈리스트(Endeavor catalyst)의 파트너 엘렌 테일러(Allen Talor), 엔비디아 디렉터 수잔 마샬(Susan Marshall), 프라이머사제 이기하 대표가 연사로 나선다.
스타트업 지원을 위한 최적 프로그램도 꾸려진다. 프라이머사제파트너스, 드레이퍼스타트업하우스 등 100여곳의 국내외 유명 벤처캐피탈을 초청해 1:1 밋업 상담, 온라인 비즈니스 매칭 플랫폼을 통한 1,000여명의 글로벌 투자자 연계 실시간 IR미팅 기회 등이 스타트업 지원을 위해 구성됐다.
또한 참관객이 참여할 수 있는 ‘체험형 AI 스타트업 부스’를 통해 로봇배송서비스, 증강현실 보행 네비게이션 등 최신 첨단 기술을 직접 체험하도록 했다.
엔비디아, 아마존웹서비스(AWS), 카카오엔터프라이즈, 네이버클라우드 등 글로벌 빅테크 기업은 스타트업과 함께 공동관을 구성해 오픈이노베이션 프로그램을 운영한다.
또한 리벨리온, 딥엑스, 뤼튼테크놀로지스 등 AI를 기반으로 각 분야에서 혁신을 선도 중인 스타트업들은 미래 산업을 이끌 기술을 소개했다.
마지막 날인 27일에는 스타트업들의 투자설명회(IR)를 위한 ‘더 넥스트 빅 씽’(The Next Big Thing) 무대가 열린다. 사우스 서밋이 주관하는 ‘글로벌 IR 챌린지’ 결선과 경기도의 ‘G-스타 오디션’ 결선이 펼쳐진다. 총 60개팀이 3일간 경연을 이어갈 예정이다.
