[브레이크뉴스경기남부=수원 이현준기자] 수원시는 ‘2024년 자살 예방 사업’ 평가에서 우수기관으로 선정돼 경기도지사 표창을 받았다.
시상식은 지난 26일 경기도청 다산홀에서 열린 ‘2024년 경기도 자살 예방의 날’ 기념행사 중 진행됐다.
수원시는 2001년 국내 최초로 자살예방센터를 설치, 23년 동안 자살 상담과 사례 관리를 중심으로 자살 고위험군을 지원했다. 또 시민들이 참여하는 생명 존중 문화사업과 자살률 감소 프로그램을 운영하며, 자살 안전망을 구축했다.
2023년에는 초·중·고등학생을 대상으로 하는 자살 위기 대응 체계 구축에 집중했다. 학교에서 자살 위기가 발생했을 때 신속하고 적절한 대응 방법을 알려주는 ‘학교 응급심리 지원을 위한 자살 위기 대응 가이드’를 교육지원청과 공동으로 제작했다.
가이드에는 교사와 학생의 위기 대응 능력을 강화하고, 자살 사건 이후 발생할 수 있는 심리적 문제를 최소화하는 방안 등이 담겼다.
수원시는 지역사회와 함께 자살 예방에 대한 관심을 지속해서 높이고, 시민의 정신건강을 지키기 위한 다양한 노력을 이어갈 계획이다.
