【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시는 오는 12월까지 6억 원의 예산을 들여 화랑마을에 1만5700㎡ 규모로 숲과 지형을 활용한 유아숲체험원을 조성한다고 24일 밝혔다.

경주시에 따르면 이 사업은 아동친화 인증도시에 발맞춰 아이들이 자연에 보다 친숙하게 접근하고 정서적으로 균형 있게 성장할 수 있도록 돕기 위해 마련됐다.
부지 내에는 미로정원, 숲놀이터, 그물놀이터 등의 야외체험 학습장과 교육장, 대피시설, 의자 및 걸이대 등의 편의시설이 마련된다.
또 꽃무릇 3500본, 맥문동 1000본 등의 화초가 식재된다. 특히 입목 벌채는 최소화하고 가지 정리 및 나무 아래의 잡목과 덩굴을 제거하는 숲 환경정비로 완연한 숲속을 느낄 수 있도록 조성했다.
지난 8월에 착공한 유아숲체험원 공사는 오는 11월 준공에 이어 12월 산림청에 유아숲체험원으로 등록할 예정이다.
이후 내년 초 위탁운영업체 선정을 거쳐 3월부터 유아숲 체험 프로그램을 정식 운영할 계획이다.
운영 방법을 살펴보면 평일은 유치원 및 어린이집 등 보육시설을 대상으로 한 예약제로, 주말 및 공휴일은 자율체험을 실시할 방침이다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “유아숲체험원을 통해 아이들이 숲에서 마음껏 뛰어놀며 자연을 탐구하고 생태 감수성을 키워나가길 바란다”라며 “남은 기간 다양한 숲체험 프로그램을 개발해 전국에서 가장 멋진 숲체험원으로 거듭나도록 노력 하겠다”고 말했다.
