【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시는 지난 29일 경주시청에서 주낙영 경주시장이 타니 쌩랏(Tanee Sangrat) 주한태국대사를 만나 양국의 미래지향적 교류 방안에 대해 의견을 나눴다고 밝혔다.

타니 쌩랏 대사는 LA 총영사, 주베트남 대사, 주미 대사 및 태국 정보부 국장을 역임했으며, 지난 4월 주한태국대사로 부임했다.
태국은 한국과 함께 APEC 창설 회원국으로, 1989년부터 APEC 활동을 이어왔으며 2003년과 2022년 두 차례 APEC 의장국을 맡은 바 있다.
이날 주낙영 시장은 타니 쌩랏 대사에게 경주를 소개하며 동남아와의 협력 확대 방안을 모색하는 한편, APEC 정상회의 준비 과정에서 태국의 경험과 노하우가 공유될 수 있도록 가교 역할을 당부했다.
타니 쌩랏 대사는 “유구한 역사를 지닌 경주가 2025 APEC 정상회의 개최 도시로 선정된 것을 축하드린다”며, “내년 태국 대사관의 경주 방문을 위해 경주시와 긴밀히 협력하겠다”고 말했다.
주낙영 시장은 “경주시는 2025년 APEC 정상회의를 성공적으로 개최하기 위해 만반의 준비를 하고 있다”며, “대사님께서 태국 외무부 대변인으로 APEC 커뮤니케이션 캠페인을 이끈 경험이 경주에 큰 도움이 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.
한편 타니 쌩랏 대사는 이날 APEC 정상회의 메인 행사장이 될 경주화백컨벤션센터(HICO)와 숙소 및 불국사를 비롯한 경주의 주요 사적지를 둘러봤다.

On this day, Mayor Joo Nak-young introduced Gyeongju to Ambassador Tanee Sangrat and asked him to serve as a bridge so that Thailand's experience and know-how can be shared during the preparations for the APEC summit.
Ambassador Thani Sangrat said, “I congratulate Gyeongju, with its long history, for being selected as the host city for the 2025 APEC Summit,” and added, “We will work closely with Gyeongju City for the Thai Embassy’s visit to Gyeongju next year.”
Mayor Joo Nak-young said, “Gyeongju City is making full preparations to successfully host the 2025 APEC Summit,” and added, “The Ambassador’s experience in leading the APEC communication campaign as the spokesperson for the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be of great help to Gyeongju.”
Meanwhile, Ambassador Thani Sangrat toured the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center (HICO), which will be the main venue for the APEC Summit, accommodations, and major historical sites in Gyeongju, including Bulguksa Temple.
