4일 경주시에 따르면 재팬위크는 한국 도시에서 일본 문화에 대한 이해를 돕고 교류를 활성화하기 위해 매년 열리는 행사다.
올해 행사는 내년 한일수교 60주년과 2025 APEC 정상회의 D-365일을 기념해 경주에서 열리며, 1일 황리단길 생활문화센터에서 개막식을 시작으로 10일까지 다양한 프로그램이 진행된다.
인상파 화가들에게 많은 영향을 준 가쓰시카 호쿠사이의 우키요에 전시회가 함께 열린다.이어 한일 가왕전에서 사랑받고 있는 아즈마 아키의 공연도 2일 예술의 전당에서 열린다.
이밖에도 동국대 WISE캠퍼스에서는 오츠카 츠요시 총영사의 강연이 진행되는 등 다채로운 프로그램이 관람객을 맞이할 예정이다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “깊어가는 가을, 경주에서 처음으로 일본 문화를 소개하는 재팬위크가 개최돼 기쁘다”며 “내년 2025 APEC 정상회의의 성공적 개최를 기원하는 의미를 담은 이번 재팬위크에 많은 관심을 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
한편, 경주시는 1970년 일본 나라시와 최초로 자매도시 결연을 맺었으며, 이후 후쿠이현 오바마시, 오이타현 우사시, 토치기현 닛코시와 차례로 결연을 맺어 문화·체육·관광·청소년 교류를 이어오고 있다.

Meanwhile, Gyeongju City first established a sister city relationship with Nara City, Japan in 1970, and has since established relationships with Obama City, Fukui Prefecture, Usa City, Oita Prefecture, and Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, continuing cultural, sports, tourism, and youth exchanges.
