[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군은 지난 16일 청소년수련관에서 전국 초등학생과 중학생을 대상으로 ‘제8회 거창군 전국 하브루타 토론대회’를 개최했다.
올해 8회를 맞은 이번 토론대회는 거창의 학생을 비롯해 대구, 부산, 포항 등 전국 각지에서 참가한 초중학생 82명과 심판 28명이 참여하며 뜨거운 열기 속에서 진행됐다.
이번 대회의 논제는 ‘디지털 교과서 도입해야 한다’로 참가자들은 스스로 질문을 만들고 상대방과 대화 및 토론을 통해 해답을 찾아가는 하브루타 방식으로 토론을 진행했다.
대회는 1대1 풀리그 토론 방식으로 운영되며 논리적 사고와 창의적 문제 해결 능력을 겨뤘다.
부산 광안초 한 학생은 “이번 대회를 통해 디지털 교과서 도입에 대한 다양한 자료를 찾고 공부할 수 있는 계기가 됐고 토론하는 과정을 통해 다른 사람의 의견을 듣고 수용하는 태도를 배울 수 있었다”며 소감을 밝혔다.
하브루타 심판 자격을 갖춘 28명의 심사위원들은 “참가 학생들의 논리적인 사고력과 창의적인 문제 해결 능력이 뛰어났으며 미래 사회를 이끌어갈 인재로 성장할 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다”고 평가했다.
심선이 인구교육과장은 “대회를 위해 열심히 준비한 학생들이 한자리에 모여 서로의 생각을 깊이 있게 나누는 모습을 보며 매우 기뻤다”며 “이번 대회가 참가 학생들에게 타인의 의견을 존중하고 성장할 수 있는 계기가 되었기를 바란다”고 말했다.
한편 거창군은 토론문화 확산을 위해 2016년부터 하브루타 지도사 양성 과정을 운영하며 지역 인재를 육성하고 학교로 찾아가는 교육을 통해 초중학생들이 하브루타 교육을 접할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 있다.

This year’s debate competition, which is in its 8th year, was held in a heated atmosphere with 82 elementary and middle school students from all over the country, including Geochang students, Daegu, Busan, and Pohang, and 28 judges.
The topic of this competition was ‘Digital textbooks should be introduced’, and the participants debated in the Havruta style, creating their own questions and finding answers through conversation and debate with their counterparts.
The competition was held in a 1:1 pool debate format, and tested logical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
A student from Busan Gwangan Elementary School said, “This competition provided an opportunity to find and study various materials on the introduction of digital textbooks, and I was able to learn to listen to and accept other people’s opinions through the discussion process.”
