[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 필리핀 해외이주노동부의 관계자들이 4일부터 5일까지 거창군을 방문했다.
필리핀 해외이주노동부는 해외에서 일하는 필리핀 근로자들의 고용 과정을 체계적으로 관리하고 근로자의 복지와 안전을 책임지는 정부 기관이다.
이번 방문은 거창군과 필리핀 해외이주노동부 간의 외국인 계절근로자 프로그램에 대한 협력을 강화하고 필리핀 근로자들의 근무 환경과 복지 상태를 모니터링하기 위해 이루어졌다.
필리핀 해외이주노동부는 필리핀과 업무협약이 체결된 지자체 중 10곳을 선정해 방문단을 2개 조로 나누어 각 지자체를 방문했다.
거창군은 경남 지역의 유일한 방문 대상으로 해외이주노동부 내 이주노동자복지국 국장을 포함한 6명의 관계자가 방문했다.
거창군은 작년 4월 필리핀 푸라시와 계절근로자 프로그램 운영을 위한 업무협약을 체결했으며 이를 통해 올해 총 361명의 푸라시 출신 근로자들이 입국했다.
이들은 거창군청에서 계절근로자 프로그램에 대한 심도 있는 논의가 진행됐으며 필리핀 계절근로자들의 근무 환경 모니터링이 이루어졌다.
이어 농업 근로자 기숙사를 방문해 공공형 계절근로자의 생활 환경을 점검하고 현장에서 필요한 지원 사항에 대해 논의하는 시간을 가졌다.
필리핀 해외이주노동부 관계자들은 계절근로자들이 안정적이고 만족스러운 근로 환경 속에서 근무하고 있음을 확인하며 거창군의 적극적인 지원과 관심에 감사를 표했다.
이에 군 관계자는 “계절근로자 프로그램의 지속가능한 운영을 위해 필요한 지원을 아끼지 않으며 계절근로자들이 안전하고 효율적으로 일할 수 있는 환경을 조성하는 데 최선을 다할 것”이라고 말했다.
한편 거창군은 이번 논의를 바탕으로 필리핀 푸라시와의 협력 관계를 더욱 강화해 농촌 일손 부족 문제 해결에 기여할 계획이다.
