브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 조국 조국혁신당 대표가 자녀 입시비리와 청와대 감찰 무마 등 혐의와 관련, 대법원에서 징역 2년이 확정됐다. 이에 따라 조 대표는 국회의원직을 상실하게 됐다.
대법원 3부(주심 엄상필 대법관)는 12일 오전 뇌물수수 등 혐의로 기소된 조 대표의 상고심에서 징역 2년을 선고한 원심을 확정했다.
조 대표가 받고 있던 혐의는 총 12가지로, 크게는 자녀 입시비리(업무방해, 허위공문서 작성·행사 등), 자녀 장학금 부정 수수(뇌물수수), 유재수 전 부산시 경제부시장에 대한 감찰 무마 등으로 나뉜다.
1심 재판부는 조 대표 부부의 자녀 입시비리 관련 허위공문서 작성·행사, 사문서위조 혐의 대부분을 유죄로 판단했다. 또 감찰무마 의혹 역시 유죄로 봤다. 이에 따라 조 대표에게 2년의 실형과 함께 600만원의 추징을 명령했다. 함께 기소된 조 대표의 부인 정경심 전 교수에게도 징역 1년이 선고됐다.
2심 재판부 역시 유죄를 인정하며 1심과 마찬가지로 조 대표에게 징역 2년의 실형과 함께 600만원의 추징을 명령했다. 정 전 교수는 대부분 혐의에 대한 공모관계를 형성하고 있다면서 징역 1년에 집행유예 2년을 선고했다.
대법원 역시 원심 판단에 문제가 없다고 보고 상고를 기각해 최종 형이 확정됐다.
