브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 육군 대장 출신인 김병주 더불어민주당 의원은 16일 비상계엄 당시 계엄군이 한동훈 국민의힘 대표 암살조를 운영하려 했다는 의혹에 대해 "미국 측에선 많은 정보가 흘러나오고 있다"면서 "사실일 가능성에 무게를 두고 있다"고 밝혔다.
김병주 의원은 이날 CBS라디오 '김현정의 뉴스쇼'에 출연해 "마 미국은 지금도 대통령실을 다 도청하고 있을 것이라 본다"며 이같이 말했다.
김 의원은 미국이 이러한 사실을 직접 밝히지 않는데 대해선 "미국이 정확히 밝히면 본인들이 도청했다는 것을 인정하게 되는 것이기 때문"이라며 "지난 12일 브레드 셔먼 미국 하원 의원의 '북한이 도발한 것처럼 상황을 연출해도 미국은 알 수 있다'는 발언도 도청했기 때문에 나온 게 아닌가 싶다"고 주장했다.
김 의원은 그러나 해당 주장에 대한 명확한 근거는 밝히지는 않았고, "계속 확인 중에 있다"고만 말했다.
김 의원은 또한 "윤석열 정권은 계엄을 일으켜 자신의 정치적 위기를 타개하려고 북풍까지 조작하는 등 많은 노력을 해왔던 것으로 보인다"며 "그동안 대북 확성기를 틀거나 평양에 무인기를 보내 국지 도발을 유도했는데 북한이 오물 풍선 등으로 대응을 하다 보니까 확전이 안 됐다. 그런 걸 국내에서 일으켜 사회 혼란을 조성한 뒤 '북한이 조장했다'는 식으로 계엄 상황을 만들지 않았나 의심하고 있다"고 했다.
한편, 김 의원은 이러한 정보를 방송인 김어준씨에게 최초로 제보받았다.
앞서 김어준씨는 지난 13일 국회 과학기술정보방송통신위원회 전체회의에 참고인으로 출석해 "(계엄 발표 후) 체포조가 아니라 암살조가 가동된다는 것과 체포돼 이송되는 한동훈 국민의힘 대표를 사살하려 했다는 내용의 제보를 받았다. 제가 이 내용을 김병주 의원에게 최초로 알렸고, 몇시간 후 김 의원은 "사실이다"라고 답해줬다"고 말했다.
