혼란스러운, 12.3 비상계엄 정국이다. 안개정국이다. 한치 앞이 안 보인다. 마주 보고 달리는 기차 정국이다. “난세(亂世)에 인물 난다”고 했다. 이런 가운데 차기 대통령 감(材木)으로 떠오르는 새 인물들이 있다.

이런 정국 하에서 야당 쪽에서는 우원식 국회의장, 여당 쪽에서는 한덕수 총리가 파기 대통령감으로 오르내리기 시작했다.

강도원 본지(브레이크뉴스) 칼럼니스트는 12월27일 페이스북 계정에 올린 “여권이 솟아날 구멍을 찾는다면”이라는 제목의 글에서 “솔직히 조기 대선을 한다면국힘 후보가 당선될 가능성이 지금으로선 낮아 보인다. 조기대선을 불러온 책임이 있는데다가 그런 핸디캡을 극복할 만한 압도적 인물도 없기 때문”이라면서 “언론에 오르내리는 오세훈, 홍준표, 원희룡 등은 난세를 평정할만한 인물은 못된다. 그래서 떠올려지는 인물이 한덕수 대통령 권한대행이다. 그는 전주출신이다. 우파정당에서 호남출신을 대통령후보로 내세운 적이 지금까지 없었던 것 같다. 참신한데다 최고의 경륜을 갖춘 최초의 호남출신 후보라, 거기다 트럼프정부와 상대하기 안성맞춤인 미국통이란 점에서 여권이 단합만 한다면 국민들을 설득할 만한 신상품이 될 듯도 싶다“고 지적했다.
