대통령실 정진석 비서실장 포함 수석비서관 이상 고위 참모진들이 1일 최상목 대통령 권한대행 경제부총리 겸 기획재정부 장관에게 일괄 사의를 표했다.
대통령실은 이날 오전 언론 공지에서 정 비서실장을 비롯 성태윤 정책실장·신원식 국가안보실장·장호진 외교안보특보 및 수석비서관 전원이 최 권한대행에 사의를 표했다고 전했다.
대통령실 고위 참모진의 집단 사의 표명은 전날 최 권한대행의 헌법재판관 임명에 항의 의사를 표한 것이란 게 여권내 해석이다.
전날 대통령실은 최 권한대행이 국무회의에서 국회 추천 몫 헌법재판관 후보자 3명 중 2명을 임명한 것에 이례적 입장을 내 "권한 범위를 벗어난다"며 강한 유감을 표한 바 있다.
또 당초 여당 지도부 중심으로 최 권한대행에게 헌법재판관 임명 반대를 설득한 가운데 국무회의에서도 일부 국무위원들이 최 대행의 헌법재판관 임명 방침에 "절대 안 된다"며 강한 반대를 표한 것으로 알려졌다.
