브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 한국마사회가 권역형 순회경마 구현과 경마 상품성 강화 등을 주요골자로 하는 2025년도 경마시행계획을 발표했다.
먼저, 2026년 3월 완공을 앞두고 있는 영천경마장을 부산경남과 영남권역으로 블록화 해 권역형 순회경마 체계를 구현한다는 방침이다. 경주마 자원은 부산경남에 상주 체류하되, 경마시행 시 경주마와 인력이 부경과 영천을 순회하는 경마선진국형 순회경마 시스템을 도입하는 것이다.
개장 1년차인 2026년 시범운영을 거쳐 점진적으로 운영기간을 확대해 나갈 예정이다. 혹서기와 혹한기를 제외하고 매주 일요일 영천경마를 시행할 계획이다. 원활한 운영을 위한 출전 지원금 및 순회경마 장려금 등도 신설된다.
그동안 마종별로 운영되던 기수 선발제도를 폐지하고 더러브렛과 제주마 기수면허를 통합한다. 통합면허 취득 후에는 경마장별 최소 활동기간이 도과한 후 활동경마장을 변경할 수 있다.
또한, 단거리 최우수마 선발체계 구축을 위해 경마장별로 단거리 대상경주를 각 1R 신설한다. ‘KRA스프린트@서울’과 ‘KRA스프린트@영남’이라는 명칭으로 펼쳐질 이번 경주는 9월 코리아스프린트, 11월 국제신문배에 이어 그랑프리 개최 주간인 11월 5주차에 개최될 예정이다.
작년에 처음으로 확대 시행돼 많은 호응을 얻었던 야간경마는 올해도 연 2회 시행을 예정했다. 4월 2주간 펼쳐지는 ‘벚꽃야간경마’와 8월 5주부터 6주간, 여름을 넘어 가을까지 펼쳐지게 될 ‘가을야간경마’를 통해 경마의 축제화를 실현해 나간다는 방침이다.
특히, 가을 야간경마 기간 중 시행되는 ‘코리아컵’과 ‘코리아스프린트’는 작년 미국 브리더스컵 챌린지 경주로 지정되며 해외 유수의 경주마가 다수 참가한 만큼, 올해도 국내외 유명 경주마들의 박진감 넘치는 질주를 눈앞에서 보는 이색적인 경험을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
한국마사회 송대영 경마본부장은 “2024년은 온라인 마권발매 서비스의 본격적인 추진을 통해 디지털 이니셔티브를 키워나가는 한편, 경주실황 수출을 세계 전 대륙으로 확대하는 등 글로벌 시장에서의 한국경마의 우수성과 잠재력을 확인하는 해였다”며 “글로벌히트와 김혜선 기수의 두바이 원정 등 올해도 세계 무대를 향해 노크하며 끝없이 이어져 나갈 한국경마의 도전에 경마팬 여러분의 많은 성원과 관심을 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
