우미희망재단(이사장 이석준)은 1월 7일부터 11일까지 베트남 호치민에서 다문화 및 산업재해 피해 가정의 아동·청소년을 위한 ‘우미드림파인더’ 동계 해외캠프를 진행했다.
이번 캠프에는 30명의 아동·청소년이 참가하여 호치민대학교의 한국 유학생들과 상담을 통해 현지 생활과 진학에 대한 정보를 얻고, 베트남에 진출한 국내 기업의 공장을 견학하며 해외 근무와 취업에 대해 생각해보는 시간을 가졌다. 또한, 빈미2초등학교를 방문해 베트남 초등학생들과 미니 운동회를 하며 친구를 사귀는 기회를 가졌다.
‘우미드림파인더’는 2018년부터 시작된 프로그램으로, 해외 캠프, 1:1 멘토링, 진로 체험, 진로 장학금 등을 제공하며, 글로벌 아동권리 전문 NGO 굿네이버스와 협력하여 운영되고 있다.
우미희망재단 이춘석 사무국장은 “짧은 여정이었지만 세상을 보는 시각을 키우는 기회가 되었기를 바란다”며, “앞으로도 다양한 진로 탐색 프로그램을 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
Umi Hope Foundation Completes 'Umi Dreamfinder' Winter Overseas Camp
The Umi Hope Foundation (Chairman Lee Seok-joon) held the 'Umi Dreamfinder' Winter Overseas Camp for children and youth from multicultural and industrial accident families in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from January 7 to 11.
Thirty children and adolescents participated in the camp, where they received information on local life and education through counseling with Korean students from Ho Chi Minh University, toured factories of Korean companies in Vietnam, and thought about working and studying abroad. They also visited Binh Mi 2 Elementary School and had the opportunity to make friends with Vietnamese elementary school students through a mini athletic meet.
'Umi Dream Finder' is a program that started in 2018 and provides overseas camps, one-on-one mentoring, career experiences, and career scholarships in cooperation with Good Neighbors, a global NGO specializing in children's rights.
“It was a short journey, but we hope it was an opportunity to grow their perspective on the world,” said Lee Chun-seok, Secretary General of the Umi Hope Foundation, ”and we will continue to expand various career exploration programs.”
