당진시는 2024년 교통문화지수 개선율이 전년 대비 6.8% 상승하여 전국 8위를 기록했다고 6일 밝혔다.
지난 31일 발표된 2024년 교통문화지수 보도자료에서 확인되었으며, 당진시는 전국 229개 지자체 중 인구 30만 미만 시 그룹에서 8위를 차지하며 작년 31위에서 무려 23위가 상승하는 성과를 거두었다.
교통문화지수는 한국교통안전공단이 통계법 및 교통안전법에 근거하여 지자체별 자율 경쟁을 도모하고 교통안전 정책의 합리적인 대안을 마련하기 위해 평가한 지표이다.
이 평가는 인구 규모에 따라 △인구 30만 이상 시 29개 △인구 30만 미만 시 49개 △군 지역 82개 △구 지역 69개로 그룹화되어 진행된다.
교통문화지수는 100점 만점으로, 운전행태(55점), 보행행태(20점), 교통안전(25점)으로 구성된다. 당진시는 운전행태에서 46.72점(↑3.04점), 보행행태에서 16.79점(↑1.51점), 교통안전에서 21.4점(↑0.9점)을 기록하여 총 84.93점을 받았다.
시 관계자는 "당진시가 교통안전지수에 이어 교통문화지수에서도 좋은 성과를 거둘 수 있었던 것은 시민들의 적극적인 관심과 노력 덕분"이라며 "앞으로도 지속적으로 교통안전 정책을 강화하여 더욱 향상된 교통문화지수를 이루겠다"고 말했다.
