세종시와 행정복합중심도시건설청이 10일, 나성동(2-4생활권) 도시상징광장 2단계 조성 공사가 완료되어 시민들에게 개방한다고 밝혔다.
이번 공사는 2023년 2월부터 지난해 12월까지 진행되었으며, 대규모 축제 개최를 위한 공간 활용 극대화와 시민들의 일상 속 휴식처 기능 강화가 기대된다.
도시상징광장은 정부세종2청사부터 중앙공원까지 이어지는 약 1.2km의 보행광장으로, 1·2단계로 나누어 조성되었다.
1단계 구역은 인근 공동주택 입주시기에 맞춰 2021년 5월에 우선 개방되었으며, 이번에 개방되는 2단계는 나성2교부터 중앙공원까지 약 530m 구간이다.
1단계가 대규모 행사를 개최할 수 있도록 설계된 반면, 2단계는 중앙녹지공간까지 이어지는 보행 중심의 공간으로 조성되어 여유로운 보행환경을 제공하고 소규모 행사에 적합하도록 마련되었다.
