브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 문재인 전 대통령이 재임 시절 윤석열 검찰총장을 발탁한데 대해 "윤석열 대통령이 탄생하게 된 가장 단초가 된 것이니까 두고두고 후회가 된다"고 밝혔다.
문재인 전 대통령은 10일 한겨레와의 인터뷰에서 윤 총장을 발탁하게 된 이유를 설명하며 이같이 말했다.
문 전 대통령은 "당시 조국 민정수석하고 나 사이에, 당시 검찰총장 후보추천위원회가 추천한 후보가 4명이었는데 그 4명 모두를 조국 수석이 직접 다 한 명 한 명 인터뷰를 해보고 당시 우리가 가장 중요하게 생각했던 검찰개혁에 대한 각 후보자의 의지나 생각을 확인해 보기로 했다"면서 "조국 수석이 4명을 다 만나본 결과, 나머지 3명은 전부 검찰개혁에 반대하는 의견을 분명히 밝혔고 윤석열 후보자만 지지하는 이야기를 했다는 것"이라고 설명했다.
이어 "윤석열이 소통에는 좀 불편할 수 있지만, 검찰개혁 의지만큼은 어쨌든 좀 이렇게 긍정적으로 말했고, 실제로 윤석열 후보는 중앙지검장 할 때 검찰개혁에 대해서 좀 호의적인 그런 태도를 보인 적이 있었다"고 발탁 배경을 전했다.
그러나 "윤석열을 가까이에서 겪어본 사람들, 이런 사람들이 윤석열 후보자에 대해서 말하자면, 욱하기를 잘하는 그런 성격이고, 말하자면 자기 제어를 잘 못 할 때가 많이 있다고 하더라"라면서 "나중에 보면 다 사실로 그 말이 맞는 것으로 나중에 확인됐다"고 후회가 된다고 자책했다.
