[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군은 11일 국무조정실 주관 정부서울청사에서 열린 청년친화도시 지정식에서 방기선 국무조정실장으로부터 대한민국 청년친화도시로 선정되어 지정서를 전달받은 영예를 안았다.
‘청년친화도시’는 청년의 참여를 바탕으로 청년 발전 및 역량 강화를 도모하며 청년 삶의 질 향상을 위한 지역을 조성하고 타 지자체로 확산을 유도하기 위해 국무조정실에서 제도를 총괄하고 국무총리가 지정한다.
교육·컨설팅 뿐만 아니라 행·재정적 지원을 통해 지역의 청년정책 우수사례를 다른 지역으로 확산하는 것이 목표이다.
전국 시·군·자치구, 특별자치시, 특별자치도를 대상으로 매년 3개 이내를 선정하며 청년친화도시 지정 기간은 5년이며 5년간 총 10억원의 사업비가 투입될 예정이다.
청년친화도시 제도가 2023년 9월 청년기본법 개정을 통해 법제화된 후 첫 지정으로 서울 관악구, 부산 진구와 함께 선정됐다.
특히 거창군은 지역특화형으로 지역이 가진 자원과 특색을 활용해, 지역 청년-주민-공무원 간 적극적인 소통을 통해 가시적인 청년정책 성과를 창출함으로써 농촌형 청년친화도시 모델로서의 가능성을 높이 평가받았다.
또한, 지방 군 단위, 농촌 지역, 인구감소 지역으로 유일하게 지정되어 그 의미가 더욱 크다.
거창군은 지난 6월 청년친화도시 가이드라인 배포 후 국무조정실과 청년재단의 컨설팅, 설명회 등에 적극 참여했다.
특히 청년 의견 반영을 위해 실태조사, 정책공모를 선행했으며 현장과 발표평가 등 전 과정에서 청년이 기획하고 참여해 지역 특성을 충분히 반영했다.
또한, 응원 릴레이 챌린지를 통해 청년친화도시로의 전 군민의 염원과 의지를 보여줬다.
지난해 12월 거창청년사이, 스마트임대농장, 청년몰에서 진행된 현장평가에서 구인모 거창군수를 비롯한 관련 부서 이재운 거창군의회 의장 등 참여와 청년 지역 살이에 관한 이야기 등이 청년친화도시 거창의 지역 특성과 강점을 충분히 보여준 것으로 평가받고 있다.
구인모 군수는 “거창이 청년친화도시로 지정된 것은 신성범 국회의원, 거창군의회, 경남도 모두가 함께 노력한 귀중한 성과로 청년과 함께 지속 가능한 도시로의 성장 가능성을 인정받은 결과”며 “미래 경쟁력을 확보해 대한민국 국민 누구나, 청년 누구나 살고 싶고 오고 싶은 거창을 만들기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
거창군의 청년친화도시 지정은 지역 소멸 위기 속에서 도시가 아닌 지역에서 희망을 가지고 청년이 주도적으로 지속 가능한 지역을 만드는 전국 모범 사례가 될 것으로 기대된다.
