[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시가 전지훈련 유치로 2024년 한 해 동안 23억4000만원의 경제적 효과를 창출한 것으로 나타났다.
13일 김해시에 따르면 연인원 3만1,629명이 김해서 훈련했으며 이는 전년 대비 36% 증가한 수치다.
김해시는 이에 만족하지 않고 체육시설 확충과 적극적인 마케팅으로 ‘전지훈련 최적지’로서의 입지를 확고히 한다.
2024년 전지훈련 시즌 총 283개 팀이 김해를 찾았다.
올해 들어서는 1월까지 76개 팀(연인원 1만 6,541명)을 유치했으며 향후 250개 팀, 연인원 2만 명 추가 유치를 목표로 더욱 공격적인 전략을 펼친다.
현재 김해시는 인제대학교, 가야대학교를 중심으로 한 대학 축구단 스토브리그와 유소년 축구단 스토브리그 등을 활발히 유치 중이다.
김해시는 사통팔달의 교통망과 온화한 기후 덕분에 동계 전지훈련의 최적지로 꼽힌다.
더욱이 지난해 개최한 전국체전에 대비, 체육시설의 공인과 개·보수를 완료한 상태여서 전지훈련 선수들에게 최적의 훈련 환경을 제공하고 있다.
특히 김해종합운동장은 경남 지자체 중 유일하게 세계육상연맹(World Athletics)으로부터 국제공인 Class-1 인증을 받았다.
Class-1 인증은 세계육상연맹이 부여하는 최고 등급으로, 해당 경기장에서 기록된 성적은 세계기록으로 인정된다.
또 김해종합운동장은 실내 웨이트 트레이닝 시설을 갖추고 있어 카누 국가대표, 국가대표 상비군 선수들이 전지훈련지로 활용하고 있다.
김해시는 종합운동장 외에도 전지훈련에 적합한 다양한 체육시설을 보유하고 있다.
천연잔디축구장을 갖춘 김해운동장, 국내 최고 시설을 자랑하는 하키경기장(2면), 1km 9레인의 국제규격 카누경기장 등이 대표적이다.
이외에도 김해사격장, 김해볼더링장, 김해시민체육공원에 축구·야구·인라인스케이트장 등이 있다.
선수단 편의를 위해 숙박 및 지원책도 강화했다.
김해시는 롯데호텔을 포함한 신축 숙박시설을 확보하고 있으며 전지훈련 방문팀을 대상으로 경기장 사용료 감면, 기념품 제공, 관광시설 입장료 할인 등 다양한 인센티브를 제공하고 있다.
특히 올해 하반기부터는 숙박비 지원까지 할 계획이다.
김해시 관계자는 “전지훈련을 위해 김해를 찾은 선수단이 불편함 없이 훈련에 집중할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”며 “김해를 다시 찾고 싶은 스포츠 중심도시로 만들기 위한 체육 인프라 확대와 차별화된 지원책으로 더 많은 선수들이 김해를 찾도록 유도하고 지역 경제 활성화에도 기여하겠다”고 말했다.
