충남 서산시가 중앙호수공원의 시민 문화 향유 공간을 확대하고 쾌적한 녹색도시 구현에 나선다.
시는 중앙호수공원 어울교 인근에 공원의 품격을 한 단계 더 향상할 ‘어울광장’을 조성한다고 17일 발표했다.
중앙호수공원은 2008년 준공 이후 시민의 도심 속 문화 향유 및 휴식 공간으로 자리매김하며 서산시의 랜드마크가 되어왔다.
그러나 공원 조성 후 16년이 경과함에 따라 시민들의 공원 시설 개선 요구가 지속적으로 제기되었고, 이에 따라 시는 탄성 트랙 교체, 경관조명 설치, 맨발 황톳길 조성 등 다양한 사업을 추진해왔다.
올해는 특히 ‘어울교 주변 환경 개선사업’을 통해 어울광장(데크광장)과 호수 내 배수시설을 설치할 예정이다.
어울광장은 공원 원형광장의 반대편에 1,123㎡ 규모로 조성되며, 올해 6월 준공을 목표로 하고 있다. 사업 완료 후에는 다양한 문화예술 활동과 전시 공간으로 활용될 예정이다.
